A Farm in Philippi

Power Through Agriculture

Mama Vivian continues to be a living testimony of the rewards yielded when one is always willing to be a student in life with a pulsating hunger to learn. While the world has been resting, the life of a farmer knows no such thing.

Imbokotho Food Growers

In August of 2023, Mama Vivian acquired a 94 hectare farm in Philippi, about 20 minutes outside of the beautiful city of Cape Town. This marks a historic public-private partnership between the South African government and a black woman. Mama Vivian and her team have been actively learning the art of agriculture.

Beginning with leafy greens, like spinach, and continuing with high aspirations of other vegetables to improve local food security. From harvesting to processing and packaging, the Imbokotho Food Growers Movement is focusing on education for emerging farmers like Mama Vivian.

Power Through Collaboration

With the help of the Terreblance family at Philippi Groente Verpakkers, our farm has been able to be productive, growing several hundred pounds of spinach. The power of collaboration is an invaluable tool to for driving growth and success. Bringing together diverse minds, skills, and perspectives, collaboration has the ability to foster innovation and new opportunities. The Terreblance family have shared their priceless 30 years of experience, to their equipment, to planting over 3000 seedlings, and even their staff. We could not be more grateful for this relationship and their continued support throughout our journey.
